In the interview, we explore discuss the paradox of the concept of an unconstitutional constitutional amendment, the origins and modern legal implications of the concept, whether one can discern any global trends in unamendability, and whether unamendability can ever be more than a mere “parchment barrier.”
Yaniv Roznai is the Research Director at the Minerva Center for the Rule of Law under Extreme Conditions at the University of Haifa. He is one of the leading scholars on unamendability, having published important papers on the subject in peer-reviewed journals including the International Journal of Constitutional Law, the American Journal of Comparative Law and the Vienna Journal on International Constitutional Law. In the Spring, he will be a Post-Doctoral Global Fellow at NYU Law School.
